McDONOUGH – Thursday afternoon, a call came into the 911 dispatch center from a 13-year-old girl reporting her mother had just rolled down a steep embankment while on the family’s riding lawn mower.
The McDonough Rescue Squad responded at 1:52 p.m. to 16191 State Route 220 in the Town of McDonough and discovered 36-year-old Karrie Preston of McDonough unconscious and a tipped over riding lawn tractor beside her. Crews called in the Mercy Flight Helicopter to evacuate Preston to the Upstate State Medical Center in Syracuse because of lower back and neck injuries.
Friday morning, McDonough Fire Chief Michael K. Beckwith, who was at yesterday’s scene and in contact with the family, reported that Preston regained consciousness at the hospital and exams showed no major broken bones.
