OXFORD – On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to present, the furiously footstompin’ 5-member group, The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys (HLP).  This Oneonta-based band plays what has been described as “acoustic backwoods Americana rockin roots” music. Their first CD debuted early this year and they’ve been touring the USA; now they’re ‘bringin’ it on’ in Oxford!

The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys throw down an obscure repertoire of original songs blended with material exhumed from musical tombs stretching from Appalachia to Memphis. This five piece band creates powerful vocals backed by guitar, mandolin, fiddle, acoustic bass and drums. According to Tobias Sperling of the Metro Gazette, “The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys pump out Hillbilly music that rocks!”

HLP was formed in Arizona in early 2008. Everybody composes, everybody sings, and everybody drives the bus. The band toured the Southwest before returning home to the northeast. In 2009 HLP can be seen in Colorado, Arizona, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and throughout New England. Their first album “One Horse Town” was released in February and 6OTS is one of the final stops on their “Barnstormin’ Summer Tour 09.” This is sure to be a pleasing, good ole-time performance over Labor Day weekend!
