NORWICH – On a day in which the Norwich Cyclones celebrated the beginning of their 40th season, the “A” team capped a three-game sweep Sunday at Alumni Field with a 37-7 win over the Rome Colts.

The Cyclones scored on the game’s fourth play on a 10-yard TD pass from Michael Sutton to Tristan Rifanburg. The TD was set up by a 26-yard Keegan Franklin run to the 10. Michael Oralls carried the ball once in the game for a 30-yard touchdown run, and Randy Stokes reached paydirt on a 26-yard scamper. Stokes also kicked three extra points – all in the first-quarter for a 24-0 lead.

Trent Stone reached the endzone on a three-yard run with Taylor Dunham adding the extra point for a 31-0 halftime advantage.

Rome answered with its lone touchdown scoring on the first possession of the second half.

Frank Garcia took the ensuing kickoff 60 yards to paydirt off a great Michael Sutton block to end the scoring. Dunham and Kevin Porack ran well for the Cyclones also.

On defense, John Marvin, Storm Cook, Spencer Stone, Matt Burke, and Porack had great contributions.
