NORWICH – The Pink Door recently completed a summer-long expansion, store volunteers confirmed this week.
The thrift clothing store, located next to the back entrance of McLaughlin’s Department store off of American Avenue, now extends to South Broad Street. That space was previously occupied by McLaughlin’s shoe department.
Julie Clark, Volunteer Coordinator for Chenango Memorial Hospital, whose women’s auxiliary operates the store, said the expansion is in response to the closing of the Salvation Army.
“We definitely saw a need with the Salvation Army closing next door; we thought we could help meet that need,” said Clark. “As soon as we heard, we wanted to see what we could do to help the community.”
The Pink Door’s Broad Street entrance will become accessible to the public immediately following a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Septe. 29, Clark said.
