ONEIDA – The Norwich Cyclones “A” Team came home with a 12-0 win over archrival Oneida Saturday night to remain undefeated on the season.
In the Cyclones’ hardest hitting game of the year, the always-tough host Indians held the explosive Cyclones offense to two touchdowns, and season-low point total.
Randy Stokes figured in both Cyclones scores setting up the first-half TD on a 33-yard pass from Michael Sutton. Sutton took it to paydirt from the 17 yard line.
Stokes took the second-half kickoff back for a 69-yard touchdown to end the game’s scoring.
Oneida was held to four first downs, and moved past the 50 yard line only once as the Indians never mounted a threat to score against the Cyclones’ defense.
The entire defensive unit played tough with several defenders in on every tackle. Keegan Franklin, John Marvin, Trent Stone, Storm Cook, Michael Oralls, Tristan Rifanburg, and Matt Craig stood out on the swarming Norwich defense.
