WHITESBORO – The Norwich Cyclones’ “C” team defeated the Whitesboro Warriors 28-13 for a share of the Eastern Division Tri-Valley title with Holland Patent and Whitesboro this past Sunday..
The Cyclones handed the Warriors their first loss in two years as Cole Rifanburg rushed for 149 yards and TDs of 13, 9, and 37 yards, while teammate Dale Geislinger had a fourth-quarter 40-yard TD to seal the victory. Geislinger rushed for 113 yards behind the dominant Cyclones line.
The Cyclones’ defense was led by Paden Burlison, Rifanburg, Geislinger, Carter Hubbard and Austin Hendrickson.
The Cyclones’ “B” team downed Whitesboro 8-6 for an exciting win. The Warriors scored first on their opening possession on a six-minute drive.
Alec Weaver scored the Cyclones’ TD in the second quarter on a five-yard run with Killian Benedict kicking the all-important two-point conversion.
The Cyclone defense was led by Benedict and Jon Manwarren, with Weaver, Landon Cummings, Jordan Vinal, Dan Zieno, Matt Parella and Cameron Edwards stopping the Warriors after their initial possession.
