NORTH NORWICH – North Norwich Supervisor Richard Decker says he’s concerned over the unpredictable economics coming from Albany lately, but overall, the impact to the Town of North Norwich is not dire.

“North Norwich is a small community. We are doing quite well. Our budget is in great shape, year to year we don’t have a lot of hassle,” he said.

Decker has served as supervisor for the last 16 years in North Norwich and has been the Chenango County Board of Supervisors Chairman for the last 12.

He, along with all the other candidates in North Norwich, is unopposed in Tuesday’s election.

“All these many years, my town board, clerk and highway superintendent have always been able to work together and I have to thank them for making my job as easy as can be,” Decker said.

Town Council incumbents Robert E. Wansor and Timothy P. Jeffrey will be on the ballot Tuesday along with the Superintendent of Highways Albert B. Rounds. The council positions are for four-year terms and the superintendent’s is for two.

Also, Town Justice Joseph Eldred is seeking re-election. The position has a four-year term.

Former Norwich Town Justice Gene A. Baker Sr. is stepping down after serving 23 years at the local bench.

“Well, it’s been 23 years and I’ve had enough I think. It’s time to let someone else give it a try,” said Baker.
