For years and years, Greene traveled to Rome Free Academy to play in the Black Knights’ field hockey tournament. Until this season.
“Maybe we won too much,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin, who was not sure why her team was excluded from the tourney. “This was the first year in a long time that we were not invited.”
While Greene missed out on a regular season opportunity to play Rome, it will reunited with its longtime Section III rival as the two schools meet at Cicero-North Syracuse High School in the state field hockey regional finals, Saturday at 2 p.m.
