LAURENS – The Raiders gained a split at the Laurens Tournament edging Tri-Valley League rival Morris in the consolation game.

The final score was much closer than the flow of the contest through three quarters.

The Raiders extended their lead to 15 points, 29-14, with one quarter to play. “We played some great defense the first three quarters,” said Raiders coach Jim Johnson, who returns all of last year’s starting lineup. “They scored 12 in a row...we were able to get some defensive stops and hang on.”

Leading scorer Tanya Barnes had 14 points for G-MU (1-1), and made two free throws in the final 30 seconds to sew up the victory.

G-MU fell to the defending sectional champion Rams by 10 points in Friday’s opening-round game.

Renee Craft scored a game-high 22 points for South Kortright, who built the bulk of their 10-point margin of victory in the opening half.
