Chenango Forks 64, Norwich 9
CHENANGO FORKS – Tanner Cummings gave Norwich a positive start, from there, however, it was nearly all Chenango Forks.
The Blue Devils scored all of their points by either pinfall, technical fall or forfeit to hand Norwich its first dual meet defeat Tuesday.
“(Chenango Forks) is just like Greene, and they’re probably the favorites in the division,” said Norwich coach Joe Downey. “They have four or five returning sectional champions, and five others that placed. They have a great team there.”
Cummings was taken down early, but rallied to pin David Samson in the 125-pound match opener. Norwich didn’t win again until the 103-pound matchup. Tristan Rifanburg remained unbeaten nipping The Devils’ Kyle Kelly, 5-4. Down by a point entering the last period, Rifanburg worked a reversal with 30 seconds left to take the lead, and rode out Kelly for the win. “That was a kid who had beaten Tristan in peewees. It was a big win for him” Downey said.
