NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department said they have a surveillance video showing a vehicle involved in Wednesday’s hit and run accident and the recording available to the public.
The Evening Sun has posted the 29-second video on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/theeveningsun. The pickup truck heading west on Eaton Avenue appears in the video at 1:25 p.m. and 54 seconds. It travels down the street, rolling through the stop sign at the intersection of Elm Street before continuing out of the camera’s sight west on Eaton Avenue.
Police believe the truck in the video is the one that rear-ended another car, causing it to crash into a doctor’s office on Broad Street just seconds before it appeared on the recording.
“The more people who see this video, the better the chance we have of identifying the operator,” said Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino. “Our next step is to send this video to a laboratory to have it enhanced for clarity.”
