NORWICH – Chenango County Sheriff Earnest Cutting named Lt. James Lloyd, 40, as his undersherrif Monday during a meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

A native of New Berlin, Lloyd has been Chenango County Patrol Lieutenant since June 2003. He began his long career with the Sheriff’s Office in May 1989, serving in the corrections division under Sheriff Morris Eccleston. He became a patrol deputy in 1992, was promoted to detective in 1994, became patrol sergeant in 1995, and was detective sergeant from 1999 to 2003.
