NORWICH – Opportunities for Chenango and Adventure Bikes & Boards announced today collaboration in the undertaking of a new charitable joint venture. OFC and Adventure Bikes & Boards will collect used bicycles, fix them up and donate them to families and individuals who lack any means of transportation.
The concept arose from a need in the community for an inexpensive means of transportation for job seekers and employed people who may not drive, may not be able to afford an automobile; or otherwise have barriers to employment. Said Terri Bickford, program director for the Employment and Training programs at OFC, “We at OFC believe in the power of neighbor helping neighbor.” OFC will actively seek the donations of gently used bicycles. These bikes will be restored to a state of safe utility by the generosity of Adventure Bikes & Boards, and then returned at no cost to community members in need of transportation for employment purposes.
