Norwich 62, Susquehanna Valley 37
CONKLIN – Susquehanna Valley put Norwich on its heels at the outset taking an 8-0 lead. From that point on, Norwich assumed command.
Hannah Runyon hit two three-pointers in the first quarter as Norwich ascended to a 16-13 lead after one period. SV was held without a point in the second quarter, and Norwich was well on its way to snapping a three-game losing streak.
“The most important thing was to get a win tonight,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “We called a timeout after they had the 8-0 lead. Honestly, we just played man-to-man, we got down in a defensive stance and worked hard.”
Molly DeMellier scored nine in each half finishing with a career-high 18 for NHS. Runyon topped all scorers with 19, and Sophie Stewart chipped in with 10 points for NHS (4-4).
The Tornado play Windsor on Friday night.
