NORWICH – On Feb. 22, Amanda’s Law will take effect throughout New York State, requiring the installation of carbon monoxide detectors in new and existing homes statewide.
According to WebMd.com, the colorless, odorless and tasteless gas, often referred to as the “silent killer,” commonly radiates from improperly vented heating sources such as furnaces, water heaters and fireplaces. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, nausea and dizziness, and can be life threatening within minutes.
