Norwich’s first rock-n-roll band to perform reunion show

NORWICH – The four original members of The Monarchs, the city’s first rock-n-roll ensemble, will perform a pair of shows Feb. 26 and 27, the third annual reunion performance the group has orchestrated.

Lead guitarist and vocalist Bruce Beadle will be joined by brother Gary on rhythm guitar, Pepe Maiurano on drums, Joe Flores on saxophone and Ron Palmer, of Harry Chapin fame, on bass. Special guest Mike O’Connor will join the band on keyboards.

Performing classic rock-n-roll from the 50s and 60s, The Monarchs, formed in 1960, first began playing local school dances, graduation parties and teen shows. Between 1960 and 1969, the band played a multitude of shows throughout Chenango County and upstate New York.
