There are times in the documentation of history that the lack of historical information is extremely frustrating. The subjects of this week’s article are a prime example!
With the approach this forthcoming weekend of the spring season, we will take a minute to reflect back to the “good old school days” when life was carefree and we were all tired of being contained in classrooms and the longing to be outside was with ever increasing impatience. However, the education laws of the State of New York restricted us to the classrooms till the middle or end of June. But survive we did and when the bell rang at the end of the school day, the majority of all of us made a mad dash for the front door and home to play or participate in other activities we might have been engaged in.
We will assume that the students of both the districts listed above were just as impatience as we were and although the educational atmosphere was somewhat different that from what we might remember, really not too much has changed.
