G-MU 2, Edmeston 1
COPES CORNERS – Coming off a one-run loss the day before where offense was at a premium, G-MU received a dominant outing from junior hurler Andrew Delmar to edge Edmeston in Tuesday’s Tri-Valley League battle.
Delmar had 14 strikeouts in a route-going effort, and allowed just two Edmeston hits. Through two games, the Raiders have surrendered just four runs and six total hits. “This wasn’t expected, but we’ll take it,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson.
Edmeston took a short-lived lead on an RBI sacrifice fly by Derek Rowlins in the fifth.
G-MU answered back in the bottom half of the inning with three of its four hits. Alex Schmidt singled, and Corin Todd doubled. After back-to-back strikeouts, Ian Edwards’ two-run single – his first varsity hit – put the Raiders on top.
“We hit it hard throughout the game, but nothing was finding holes,” Johnson said. “Edmeston made some nice plays in the field.”
G-MU plays at Morris on Friday.
