Owego 6, Norwich 1
OWEGO – Norwich, competing against STAC opposition for the first time since the 2001 season, had a win from a pair of seventh-graders to highlight Wednesday’s season-opening matchup.
Alexander Stewart and Matt Craig rallied from 4-1 down in the first set to prevail, 6-4, 6-4 over the Indians’ Josh Fisher and Mike Steidle. “We were competitive in some areas, and other areas we struggled,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “We’re going to improve, and to have two seventh-graders win their first match off the bat, it’s pretty exciting.”
