NORWICH – The Chenango Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA) received $10,000 to provide in house spay/neuter operations by for all of their shelter dogs and cats. The organization’s new pet sterilization program will alter hundreds of animals each year in a proactive mission to fight the area’s dire pet overpopulation problem.
Volunteer Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians provide their skill and donate their time to the animals of the CSPCA. Dr. Tim Slater, of Jockeyport Veterinary Hospital said “It is great to be able to help these animals improve their chances of being adopted. By having a central surgical facility we will improve the efficiency and will allow more animals to be spayed and neutered.” Dr. Heather Highbridge of Hamilton Veterinary Hospital has assisted in putting the program together and provided the first surgeries as well. The CSPCA would welcome those who wish to donate their skills and time to the program.
