Dear Maggie,
I don’t think my boyfriend is ever going to propose. We’ve been “dating” for three years now, and things reached the level they’re at now, and just sort of stalled there. And as I was venting about this to one of my best friends, she asked me why should he propose? She pointed out to me that he gets to spend as much (or as little) time with me as he wants, and does what he pleases the rest of the time. He lives with his parents, and they do just about everything for him. Why would he want to marry me? This got me to thinking, and I wonder if my friend right? She says I should tell him I either want to take things to the next level or break up entirely. She says it’s the only way he’ll move things forward. I love him, and I know he’s the one I want to marry, but I don’t want to wait forever. What do you think?
Signed,
