NORWICH – Residents of the Norwich City School District approved the proposed spending plan for the 2010-11 academic year by a vote of 770 to 522 Tuesday.
Three vacancies on the school board will be filled by first-time candidates Linda Horovitz with 693 votes, Heather Collier with 639 and Thomas Morrone with 543.
Current board members Robert Patterson and Bill Loomis lost their seats, receiving 469 and 407 votes, respectively.
Also losing their bids were Clyde Birch (418), Mark Hollifield (293) and David Older (265).
The approved budget, which totals $37,090,193, represents a $782,877, or 2.07 percent, decrease in spending as compared to the current year. The impact on taxpayers will be an estimated tax levy increase of 3 percent.
Residents also approved Guernsey Library’s $954,516 budget, 767 to 389. Amy Doliver won a spot on the library board, running unopposed with 543 votes.
