NORWICH – Two cars collided in a high speed crash in the Town of Norwich Thursday sending seven people to the hospital and entrapping one of the drivers.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash had six teenager occupants.
The accident occurred at about 2:46 p.m. yesterday at the intersection of County Road 36 and Aldrich Road
The Norwich Fire Department was on the scene in about four minutes and discovered Norwich resident Nancy Williams pinned inside her red sedan.
Norwich Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo said crews were forced to use the Jaws of Life to pry Williams from the wreckage. She was immediately flown by the Life Net of New York helicopter, based in Sidney, to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Binghamton with “serious” unknown injuries. Representatives at Wilson reported that Williams was in the hospital’s intensive care unit Friday morning.
