GREENE – Round two of the NY State Speedway Championship was held at Action Park East in Greene, during a shaky day of weather conditions last week. It had rained several times earlier in the day but luckily the track surface stood up well and racing began on time Veteran star, Tuff McBride carried a two-point lead into the evening, and was looking to catch his first state title since his win in 1983 at Action Park, 27 years earlier.
Casey Donholt was leading the first event, but fell and it opened the door for Lee Bailey to take three points with Dee Holden second. Current state champ, Adam Mittl, won handily in his first ride over Jerry Harman, Andy Crawford and Cole Farwell in that order. McBride was on his game from the get-go and beat Mikey Buman and Dave Clark, both of whom are of the fast young gang nowadays.
McBride kept the points rolling in round two and won over Crawford and Holden. Harman got some revenge on Mittl and handed him a loss with Bailey third and Clark fourth. Donholt got on the scorechart with three points over Buman and Farwell.
