NORWICH – The Treasure Hunters Roadshow came to town Tuesday and the show’s buyer said he expects to dish out approximately $150,000 to $275,000 in cash during this, the company’s first visit to Norwich.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, representatives of the Springfield, Illinois-based treasure-hunting company will be on hand at the Howard Johnson’s Ballroom, 75 N. Broad St., to meet with local residents and offer cash to an estimated 400 to 500 people for “treasures” they bring in voluntarily.
On the search for coins minted prior to 1965, foreign and American paper money printed before 1934, gold and silver coins, vintage, modern and costume jewelry, platinum, silver, war items such as bayonets, knives and swords, vintage toys and musical instruments and everything in between, Stambaugh said he “never knows what’s going to walk through the door.”
A good example, according to buyer Eddie Stambaugh, was the time a gentleman stopped by with a Fender guitar case that just happened to contain a vintage 1971 Stratocaster once owned by guitar legend Jeff Beck.
