NORWICH – The Chenango County grand jury met Wednesday and indicted ten individuals with a number of felonies. Among those indictments was a Greene man charged with one of the highest pedophile crimes in the state.
At the proceedings, the District Attorney’s Office presents evidence against those they wish to prosecute as a felon, and the jury decides if there is enough reasonable cause to charge a person.
• Wyatt E. McDonough, 52, 132 Ingraham Rd., Greene was indicted on predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A-II felony, first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a B class felony.
State Police Investigators said McDonough’s arrest was the result of a week-long investigation initiated by the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
District Attorney Joseph McBride said the charged acts allegedly took place at McDonough’s residence, which is located about 300 feet from the Broome County line in the Town of Greene.
McBride confirmed the allegations involved a history of sexual abuse against a child as young as eight years old over the last six years. According to the indictment the alleged crimes occurred over a period of time between 2004 and 2007.
McDonough was arraigned in the Town of Greene Court before Town Justice Dante Acunto, and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
