OXFORD – The Village of Oxford has extended the deadline for residents to respond to a survey regarding its cable television provider in the hopes of receiving more responses.
“The survey results will be used to address community needs and interests during the upcoming cable franchise renewal process with Time Warner Cable,” explained Oxford Mayor Terry Stark. The agreement grants the cable provider right-of-way through the village, and is strictly regarding cable television service, not any of the ancillary services TWC provides, like phone or internet access.
The current 10-year franchise agreement between the municipality and the provider expires in March. Negotiations are set to begin in October. While the village is not looking to switch providers, the mayor said he thinks it’s important for the board of trustees to understand the needs and interests of the community going into the process.
