OXFORD – On Friday at 8 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) welcomes Sara Milonovich and Daisycutter. Sara, an award winning talent to be treasured, plays fiddle-fueled music which can easily change from a dark Celtic ballad to upbeat, foot stompin’ bluegrass, and then onto her rendition of tunes from the 70s.
Sara Milonovich is a rarity in the music world: at once a successful singer, fiddler, composer, and bandleader, while at the same time being a sought-after accompanist for a number of other artists in many musical genres. She has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe in the Americana roots, folk-rock, bluegrass, Celtic, and Appalachian music scenes, collaborating with artists such as Richard Shindell, Cathie Ryan, The McKrells, Pete Seeger, Eliza Gilkyson, Quickstep, Anne Hills, Antje Duvekot, and Leslie Ritter & Scott Petito, among others.
In her live performances, she is supported by her 5-piece band Daisycutter - a group of adventurous fellow travelers from the many and varied music scenes of New York City. Called “acoustic and electric, agnostic and eclectic,” it’s a whirling mix of roots-rock, Americana-folk-pop, oldtime-newgrass, jamband-Celtodelic-worldbeat-jazz: alt-rock, alt-country, alt-folk, alt-pop, alt-everything! The band features: Andy Goessling (of Railroad Earth) on mando, banjo, dobro, and saxes; Greg Anderson (of Eileen Ivers’ band) on guitars; Leo Traversa (Eileen Ivers, Steve Kimock, Tania Maria) on bass; and Steve Holloway (Solas, Jill Sobule, Riverdance) on percussion.
