Oxford 'working its way up'

Oxford 2, Delhi 1

OXFORD – Oxford played its third overtime game in as many outings, and the results of each game have gotten better each time.

Emily Smith redirected a crossing pass from Megan Golden at 7:47 of the first overtime to give Oxford (1-1-1) its first win of the season. The Blackhawks lost their opening game in extra minutes, and played to a tie in last week’s game. “I guess we’ve been working our way up,” said Oxford coach Kathleen Cragle.

Down 1-0 to the Bulldogs, Julie Heggie tied the game with a left-footed shot midway through the second half. “We missed quite a few good opportunites either wide or right at the keeper,” Cragle said. “We weren’t communicating well in the first half, but we played much better in the second half.”
