Oneonta comes on strong in second half

Boys’ Soccer

Oneonta 5, Norwich 0

NORWICH – Norwich’s defense held off Oneonta for nearly 60 minutes, then the floodgates opened over the final 22:57 of play.

Connor Brown unlocked a tie game after Norwich goalie David Layman made an initial save, but the Norwich defense failed to clear the ball out. Eric Deemer picked up the loose ball and crossed it to Brown for the tally. Deemer added a goal as well to go with two assists. “We played a lot of defense in the game, and David made some unbelievable saves in the first half,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey.

The Tornado play G-MU Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Emerson Fields in Oxford in the first round of the Oxford Blackhawks Tournament.
