McDONOUGH – Firemen freed a passenger from a car Wednesday afternoon after it struck a utility pole head on, knocking down live electrical wires.

Officials were alerted to the accident at about 1:53 p.m. yesterday after a 911 caller reported a a one-car accident near 1868 State Highway 220 in the Town of McDonough. The caller also said a female passenger was trapped inside.

The McDonough and Oxford Fire Departments responded along with Norwich EMS.

New York State Police Trooper Jason Place said there were three occupants in the vehicle.
