NORWICH – The Norwich Cyclones’ A and C teams remained unbeaten, and the B team earned a shutout victory in a sweep of three games Sunday at Alumni Field.
The “A” team downed Oneida 22-0, and with a win or tie against Holland Patent this Sunday, will claim sole possession of the Tri-Valley League division championship.
This past Sunday’s action against the Indians was led by Tristan Rifanburg, who scored three touchdowns of 44, 6 and 10 yards, and rushed for 114 yards in the first half, for a 22-0 halftime lead. John Marvin rushed for a point-after touchdown, and also kicked a two-point conversion. A 30-yard pass from Rifanburg to Marvin set up the final Cyclones score.
Spencer Stone again led the defense, along with Marvin, Matt Craig, Alec Weaver, Rifanburg, and Nick Murphy. Cameron Edwards had a sack and fumble recovery, as did Carlos Ithier, and Everett Thompson came up with an interception. Dan Zieno, Killian Benedict, and Dan Macintosh also helped stop Oneida.
The Cyclones’ “B” team stopped New Hartford 6-0 with a five-minute, fourth-quarter drive culminating with a one-yard TD by Jacob Franklin with only 2:39 left in the game.
