NORWICH – Classic movie buffs will have a chance to see some of their favorite films on the big screen as part of Colonia Theater’s new Wednesday feature. The series kicks off tonight at 7 with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn’s 1949 classic, “Adam’s Rib.” Tickets are $3 per person.
“It’s going to appeal to a different audience,” said owner Mike Morse. He selected Wednesdays for the showing, he said, because it was a night the theater has traditionally been closed.
The classic movies will be shown using the theater’s new digital projector. Installed a few months ago, Morse said the equipment was a “sizable investment” for the business.
“I think it will be worth it in the long run,” he added, explaining that the new projector will allow more flexibility. In addition to the classic movie nights, he is also exploring other options for its use, such as birthday parties and opportunities for local on-screen advertising. Helping him with the transition is employee Zach Barrows, who has been tasked with operating the more technologically advanced equipment.
