GREENE – Greene rushed for 396 yards, and won its final game of the season Friday night to secure a sixth straight plus-.500 campaign.
Kurt Shear had 175 yards rushing and a touchdown. Shear added to his single-season school rushing record for the Trojans (5-4) finishing with 1,309. “Kurt is a heck of a player and we’re definitely going to miss him,” said Greene coach Tim Paske. “He’s a hard worker, and he put his time in.”
Kyle Stanton recovered a B-G fumble in the endzone on the opening drive of the game. After forcing a Bobcats’ punt, Greene used nine plays, the last a three-yard Shear TD jaunt upping the lead to 14-0.
Jeff Carlin dashed 34 yards to paydirt in the second before B-G put its first points on the board. Sophomore quarterback Corbin Palmer connected with Ryan Porter on a 58-yard TD score.
Tim Gell responded for Greene kicking a 23-yard field goal before halftime. Greene finished with just one turnover while accumulating 441 yards of offense. It held the B-G running game in check until the later stages of the game forcing B-G to pass the ball.
“The defense came out and played really well,” Paske said, whose club held the Bobcats to 17 yards rushing in the first half.
Keegan Cerwinski ran for a 45-yard touchdown and threw a 27-yard TD to Josh Brigham to pad the Trojans’ advantage in the second half.
