NORWICH – Last week prosecutors said a 24-year-old Mt. Upton man is facing life in prison if he’s convicted of a third felony, saying he’s subject to New York’s “three strikes law.”

New York State Police arrested Luman C. Craver on June 28 after they pulled him over for suspected drunk driving and discovered a large quantity of narcotics in his car.

He’s charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a B class felony, driving while ability impaired by drugs and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both E class felonies.

Troopers pulled Craver over along County Road 29 in the Town of New Berlin. State Police implied the arrest was not a random incident in a released statement in which they credited “the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Chenango County Sheriff’s Department and the Norwich City Police Department for assistance in the investigation.”
