GREENE – Norwich senior Jon Foulds matched the third highest point total in head coach Mark Abbott’s 25-year tenure scoring 35 points Wednesday night to lead the Tornado into the finals of the Greene Holiday Showcase.

The Tornado meet Greene tonight at 7 p.m. for the championship. “He just had a great game, and the good thing is that the guys were looking for Jon. They knew he was on,” said Norwich coach Mark Abbott.

Foulds scored inside, outside, and from the foul line. He had 11 of his team’s first 12 points and 17 by the end of the first quarter. In one six-second stretch, Foulds scored six points toward the end of the first quarter. He had a breakaway layup where he was intentionally fouled. He added two free throws after the foul, then scored on a layup on the ensuing inbounds pass.

Meanwhile, the Tornado defense wreaked havoc forcing 18 Delhi turnovers in the first half to build a 36-12 lead. Seth Thomsen had nine of his 15 points in the first half as he and Foulds dominated the interior. “Jon and Seth were just a little too athletic for them,” Abbott said. “When we got the ball inside, they either converted, were fouled or both. It was a tough matchup for Delhi.”
