BINGHAMTON – On Feb. 12, runners and walkers from Broome and Chenango Counties will join others across the nation in lacing up their running shoes to raise money for people with disabilities in the third annual Cupid’s Chase 5K.
“The Cupid’s Chase 5K Run is nationwide and will be run simultaneously in 22 other cities in the United States,” explained Jeffrey Winner, director of program services for Community Options, the not-for-profit agency which sponsors the fundraiser.
Headquartered in New Jersey, the organization serves individuals with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries by helping them find employment, housing and increase independence. According to Winner, the agency’s Binghamton office serves approximately 185 individuals across a 10 county region, including Chenango.
The local Cupid’s Chase 5K event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 12 at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the run/walk itself will begin at 10 a.m.
The cost to participate is $20 per person, which includes a long-sleeved event T-shirt and gift bag, as well as beverages and snacks before and after the race.
