NORWICH – With the return of the Fox Broadcasting’s hugely popular American Idol – now in its tenth season – it’s no surprise the Park Place Restaurant and Lounge picked this as the perfect time to announce its second annual ‘Idol’ competition. And like the televised vocal competition – which found new additions Steven Tyler, of Aerosmith fame, and Jennifer Lopez joining long-time judge Randy Jackson – this year’s Park Place Idol will feature a new twist, according to Celebration Creations owner and event coordinator Kerri Green.
“Last year was the first time we attempted this competition in Norwich and we really didn’t know how many singers we would have lined up,” stated Green. “Now that we know there is so much talent in the area and considering the great response we had last time, we decided to make this year’s Idol competition an elimination contest.”
Unlike last year’s competition – in which two separate groups of contestants competed for a chance to perform in the final round – all those who register for the second annual Park Place Idol will compete in round one and face elimination, reported Green. Round two of the competition will narrow the field down to its top ten prior to the third and final round.
