NORWICH – Longtime Norwich Catholic Community Soup Kitchen volunteer and organizer JoAnn Testani is concerned local residents may be unaware of the many volunteer opportunities available at its weekly community gathering.
Held from 4 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday at the St. Bartholomew Parish Center, the Food Bank of Central New York-sponsored soup kitchen typically draws between 80 and 100 people, reported Testani. It’s a great chance for local residents – and volunteers – to share in some conversation and a good hot meal, she added.
Tonight’s soup kitchen, however, has been cancelled due to today’s severe winter storm, stated Testani.
“We just want to emphasize that this soup kitchen is a separate entity from St. Bartholomew’s and St. Paul’s, and volunteers and guests throughout the community are welcome to attend, no matter their denomination,” added Testani. “We enjoy anyone that would like to come down and we welcome their help.”
