G-MU 45, Edmeston 41

COPES CORNERS – G-MU overcame foul trouble to leading scorer Tanya Barnes and an early eight-point deficit to defeat Edmeston Monday night in a game rescheduled from last week.

Barnes picked up her third foul early in the second period with her team already struggling. “We came out a little flat coming off a tough game with Morris last week,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson, whose club clinched a tie for the Tri-Valley League division title with the win. “We played good defense (with Tanya out) and persevered until halftime getting it back to a four-point game.”

The Raiders scored the first eight points of the third quarter to claim the lead for good. They extended the lead to 11 points in the fourth until Edmeston’s Emily Holdorf caught fire. Holdorf hit two three-pointers in the last quarter and scored all 11 of her points over the final eight minutes pulling her club within four.
