NORWICH – While they may not be performing for millions of viewers on a nationally broadcast television program – or in front of superstars such as Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez – there’s plenty at stake for the remaining ten contestants of Park Place Idol, as they prepare to face-off for one last time at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Park Place Restaurant and Lounge, 7-9 East Park Place.

Semi-finalists Marty Kuhn, Shannon Stark, Randy Way, Caryn Balnis, Joyce Arboit, Hannah Dorsey, Greg Tondee, Cat Robinson, Charlie Shaver and the duet of Deena Wriedman and Ashley Zammiello will compete Saturday evening for the top prize of $150 and a cruise vacation. Second and third place finalists will take home $100 and $75 respectively.

This year’s Park Place Idol – set up elimination-style – saw 25 contestants compete in round one, who were then narrowed down to 15 prior to round two and, ultimately, the remaining top ten. On Saturday, those ten contestants will compete for a spot in the top five before facing-off for the grand prize and title of Park Place Idol.

“The competition has been very good. Unfortunately, everybody can’t win,” said Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo, who returned to judge the competition for a second straight year. “The audience has been really into it and it’s been a standing-room only crowd, it’s been packed. It’s a great event and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.”
