SMITHVILLE – Smithville leaders plan to discuss the elimination of one of the municipality’s two elected justice positions next Monday, and they are encouraging town residents to attend the meeting and weigh in on the topic.
“We would be glad to listen to (their) ideas,” said Town Supervisor Allan Johnson.
The discussion will take place at the town’s monthly board meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. March 21 at the Community Center in Smithville Flats.
Johnson stressed that while the meeting will not be a public hearing, he said he wanted Smithville residents to be aware that the justice position would be discussed. They will have the opportunity to voice their opinion during the session, he added.
