NHS to hold its first Spring Concert tonight

NORWICH – Sunday marked the first day of spring and while it may not look or feel like it – thanks to Mother Nature – the Norwich High School Music Department is prepared to hold its first of two Spring Concerts at 7 tonight in the high school auditorium.

The concert will feature performances by the Treble and Mixed Choirs and Wind and Jazz Ensembles, as well as selections from the school’s upcoming spring production of “The Phantom of the Opera.”

The Wind Ensemble – led by Director Lansing Dimon – will kick things off with Brian Balmages’ “Three Celtic Dances,” featuring soloists Tambria Schroeder on piccolo and Elizabeth Hathaway on alto saxophone.

Selections from The Phantom of the Opera will follow – directed by Mark Sands and conducted by vocal coach Mary Mayo – an opportunity for audience members to get a sneak peek at the school’s spring production of the Broadway classic.
