NORWICH – The Norwich Police and the Norwich City School District will participate in Operation Safe Stop Wednesday, to promote school bus safety and discourage drivers from violating school bus traffic laws.

The program will take place during both the morning and afternoon bus routes on Wednesday and will emphasize the safety of students while they are entering and exiting school buses.

Police officers in marked and unmarked patrol cars will follow and monitor selected bus routes that have a history of illegal bus passing complaints.

They’ll issue tickets to drivers who pass stopped school buses, and all violations will be reported to the Governor Office’s Traffic Safety Committee so the final figures are available to state and local officials, as well as the media.
