Norwich boys romp
NORWICH – Norwich senior Jon Foulds lowered his own school record in the 400-meter hurdles lopping over half a second off his previous mark in Norwich’s 94.5-46-5 STAC division win over Susquehanna Valley Tuesday.
Foulds was more than a second better than his best time this season, and his time of 58.7 seconds was six-tenths of a second lower than his record-breaking time from a year ago. Foulds added to his record night winning the 110-meter hurdles in a season-low 15.7.
Norwich’s Patrick Taylor had his best day of the season setting a personal best to win the long jump (21-7 1/2), and adding a first in the triple jump (40-10).
“Being that it was a little warmer today, that made a big difference,” said Norwich coach Paul Sims. “The weather finally cooperated for us, and I thought we might bust out some really good times and distances.”
Norwich’s Jamie Zieno owned the distance races claiming victories in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter events. Freshman Matt Murray edged closer to the 400-meter dash school record running a personal best 50.9.
Sus Valley’s girls used superior depth to rout NHS, 110-31. The Tornado had four wins in 17 events. Morgan Hagenbuch (100 hurdles), Cleo Daoud (200 meters), Lexi Perez (high jump), and Shannon Curley (discus) earned victories for NHS.
Norwich hosts the annual REK Invitational on Friday beginning at 5 p.m.
