Norwich has division title in sight

Track and Field

Norwich 116, Owego 25

NORWICH – Norwich moved one win away from capturing its first boys’ track and field STAC division title in over 15 years blitzing Owego Tuesday afternoon.

Coming off a sixth straight REK Invitational team title, the Tornado had no let up for an overmatched Indians team. Patrick Taylor won three field events – the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Not only did Norwich win every field event, it swept the top three places in each one except the pole vault. Owego managed a third-place finish in the pole vault. “We have some big meets coming down the road, and we’re trying to keep the fire going,” said Norwich boys coach Paul Sims. “One of our team goals was to win a division title, and we can do that next week against Johnson City.”

Morgan Crawford won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Matt Murray had a personal-best 2:01.5 to win the 800 meters, Jon Foulds matched his low time winning the 110-meter hurdles (15.5) Max Morse captured the pole vault, and Kegan Levesque swept the discus and shot put. Norwich also won all three relays with ease.
