BAINBRIDGE – The Jericho Arts Council’s Annual Fine Arts Show ended on May 14 with a closing reception. This year’s show featured 109 works by 53 artists, and was on display in Bainbridge’s Town Hall Theater and Gallery for one spectacular week. Visitors to the show expressed their delight at the beauty of the show, and the quality of the works on exhibit. Over $1,000 in award money was distributed to winning artists in four categories. Three special awards, Best of Show, People’s Choice, and the Tennant Award, were also presented. Judges for this year’s show were Orazio Salati of Binghamton and Wayne Claypatch of Owego.
The Best of Show award was presented to Walton artist Ty Steinbacher for his painting, “Birth of the Union.” This same painting also won the People’s Choice award, a prize based on votes by visitors to the art show throughout the week.
Another painting by Steinbacher, entitled “Monica,” won the Tennant Award for realism. This award is given in honor of Daniel Tennant, a long time Bainbridge artist, art educator and supporter of the Jericho Arts Council’s Annual Fine Arts Show.
