OXFORD – Winning isn’t everything, but winning is the only thing the team of Todd Seiler and Bryan Smith has done since they paired for the first time last year.
The duo repeated as Bluestone Golf Course Men’s Member-Guest champions here Sunday afternoon. Combined with last year’s Canasawacta Country Club men’s member-guest title, the Seiler-Smith combo is now a perfect 3-for-3 in member-guest outings.
“I just wanted to say, I really like playing with Todd,” Smith said after Sunday’s final round.
You would have to believe Seiler feels the same way, who has won the Bluestone men’s title multiple times over the past 15 years. “(Winning) this means a lot to me,” Seiler said.
Seiler and Smith grabbed command of the tournament on Saturday shooting a 6-under-par 64 in a best ball format. Teeing off the first hole in the final championship pairing on Sunday, Seiler and Smith sizzled out of the gate shooting a 6-under-par 28 on the front nine to expand the advantage. Seiler, who eagled the ninth hole on Saturday, did the same on Sunday to create a large bulge over runner-up Scott Seiler Sr. and partner John Byroads.
“There are a lot of good teams out there who can go super low, so we knew we had to shoot probably 8- to 10-under-par today,” Smith said.
