NORWICH – Every summer, the Norwich Business Improvement District, in conjunction with the Chenango County Farmer’s Market, organizes Lunchtime LIVE!
Lunchtime LIVE! brings local musicians to perform downtown on Wednesdays in July and August from noon to 1 p.m. The event is free and people are welcome to bring their lunch and a lawn chair and enjoy the show.
Usually the shows are held in East Park, but due to renovations, the first few performances will be held in West Park instead, said BID Executive Director Pegi LoPresti. A temporary stage will be set up for Lunchtime LIVE! performances and Thursday night’s Blues Festival free summer concerts.
“We just appreciate the greater Norwich community,” LoPresti said. “The construction is short term. It will get better.”
LoPresti added that she was unsure when the performances would move back to East Park.
There have been Lunchtime LIVE! performances every year for about 11 years. Performers are usually small local acts, but, LoPresti said, are very popular. She added that she’s hoping for a bigger crowd during this summer’s performances.
“I really wish more people took advantage to grab a lunch and come,” she said.
Yet, she added, there are still loyal fans.
