ALBANY – Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced yesterday that 30 locations across New York State will be the sites of a new exhibition titled “New York Remembers,” organized in recognition of the upcoming 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. Included in the list of sites named is the Chenango County Council of the Arts, located on West Main Street in Norwich.
Victoria Kappel, executive director of the Council of the Arts, called the exhibit a “wonderful opportunity” for the organization. She said she was “honored and excited” that the Norwich gallery was chosen.
Details about the exhibit’s local opening and gallery hours will be forthcoming.
The exhibits will include artifacts from the site of the disaster, many of which have never been seen by the public. Fragments of the aircrafts and buildings, damaged emergency vehicles, and photographs and messages left by grieving families will all be included in the displays.
